Glaucoma is one of the most common causes of irreversible blindness. Increased eye pressure damages the optic nerve. No early symptoms — peripheral vision is lost slowly. Risk: age 40+, family history, myopia, diabetes. Annual eye pressure check after 40 can be life-saving. Can't be cured but progression can be stopped.
