Eye Drops & Hydration Guide
When, how and why?
Eye drops can support eye health when used correctly. However, wrong or excessive use can cause new problems. This guide is for general information — always consult your eye doctor before use.
💧 Types of Eye Drops
Artificial Tears
Used to relieve dry eyes. Available with and without preservatives. For frequent use, preservative-free is preferred.
Antihistamine Drops
Relieves itching and redness from allergies. Should not be used long-term without doctor's advice.
Antibiotic Drops
Used for bacterial infections. Must be used with prescription under doctor supervision.
Glaucoma Drops
Used to lower intraocular pressure. Vital — never discontinue on your own.
⚠️ Proper Usage Rules
Always wash hands before applying drops
Don't touch dropper tip to eye or lashes
Gently pull lower eyelid and release the drop
Keep eyes closed for 1-2 minutes after application
Wait at least 5 minutes between different drops
Discard opened bottle after indicated period (usually 28 days)
🏠 Dry Environments & Hydration
AC & Heating
Both dry the air. Using a humidifier reduces dry eyes. Ideal humidity: 40-60%.
Office Environment
Dry eyes are common in air-conditioned offices. A small desk humidifier makes a difference.
Air Travel
Cabin air is very dry. Keep artificial tears handy. Consider switching from contacts to glasses.
⚠️ Don't use eye drops without doctor's recommendation. Redness-relief drops can cause dependency and mask underlying issues.
